Wheatgrass Powder
Wheatgrass Powder
£15.99
OR
Although mankind has used the grain of wheat (Triticum aestivum) for millennia, only in the early Twentieth Century did we discover the exceptional nutritional richness of its young, leafy growth (cotyledons).

Wheatgrass is high in vitamin A, C and folic acid, and a source of chlorophyll.

Suggested Use:
We recommend that you take one heaped teaspoon (3 grams) mixed with water or juice, once or twice a day. It should ideally be taken mid-morning and/or mid-afternoon. We also recommend that you take a reduced dose during the first week to minimise detoxification symptoms. Store your Wheatgrass in a cool, dry place.

  • The Story:
Wheatgrass is the leafy growth of the young wheat plant (Triticum aestivum). Although wheat has been used as a cereal crop for millennia, this part of the plant has only been consumed by humans since agricultural research into its effectiveness as a dietary supplement in the 1930s. It is packed with nutrients, including essential vitamins, minerals, enzymes, phytonutrients and all the essential amino acids.

Wheatgrass contains just 10-15 calories per teaspoon, with no fat or cholesterol. Wheatgrass protein contains 19 of the 22 amino acids, including all of the eight essential amino acids (those the body can't make for itself). Wheatgrass is also rich in vitamins, including A, B1, 2, 3, 5, 6, 8, B12, C, E and K. It also contains Chlorophyll.
    The Production:
We source our Wheatgrass from an organic farm in Canterbury, New Zealand. It is harvested while the plant is still young, below 30 cm tall. Within 1-6 hours of harvest the Wheatgrass is transported to an organically certified dehydrating company, where the moisture content is reduced to approximately 4% by air dryers. The drying process takes between 20 and 25 minutes. Samples are taken hourly for daily quality assurance testing. Once dried, the powder is milled to particles, first of approximately 150 – 200 microns, then down to 50 microns. It is then packaged, awaiting transport to the UK. Organic production and processing helps retain the product’s vitamin B12 content, which is a byproduct of microorganisms on the plant rather than part of the growth structure.
